Why Palm Sugar?
Palm sugar is a natural unprocessed sweetener harvested from the flower bud of palm trees. The predominant sources of palm sugar are the Palmyra, date, nipa and coconut palms.
Are brown sugar and palm sugar the same?
No, they are not. Most commercial brown sugar is simply granulated white sugar with added molasses for color and a mild flavor. Palm sugar on the other hand are naturally harvested from palm trees and offers a rich caramel flavour that has a fragrant scent.
What are the health benefits of Palm Sugar
Palm sugar is an unrefined sugar, it is known to be rich in vitamins and minerals. As a result, it has become increasingly popular as a substitute to white and brown sugar. Research studies have found that it contains minerals like potassium, phosphorus, zinc, iron, manganese and copper; small amounts of phytonutrients such as polyphenols, flavonoids and anthocyanidin; and antioxidants. It is rich in B vitamins, especially inositol (Vit8) which is needed for the formation of healthy cells, as well as thiamine, riboflavin, folic acid and choline.
How do I store Hogula brittles?
Hogula brittles are made without any preservatives, articial flavourings and colours. The healthy brittles are best consumed within 3 months of purchase and should be stored in a fridge.
